Brigitte Borja de Mozota

After 10 years of working in business with designers, Brigitte started a new career in academia at Paris University. She received her PhD in economics at Université Paris I Sorbonne in 1985. Pioneer in the field of design management from a business science viewpoint, she was key to the creation of its scientific territory through international networks and conferences worldwide: Design Management Institute 1988, European Academy of Research 1993, Ateliers de la Recherche en Design 2006, and design research journals (Design Journal, Sciences du Design) and research laboratories.

In addition to publishing a wealth of research papers and studies, she is the author of the reference book Design Management – Using Design to Build Brand Value and Corporate Innovation, published in France in 1990 and republished in 2002, and in English, in 2003, by Allworth Press, New York, and translated into Turkish in 2005; Korean and Italian in 2008; Spanish, Brazilian, Farsi and Japanese in 2010; and Chinese in 2011. She is Life Fellow of the Design Management Institute (Boston), www.dmi.org.

She has supervised PhD candidates and trained master’s students, in both business and design schools, in design and innovation and is considered an authority on design economics in France.

Currently a consultant as well as professor and supervisor of MBA “Managing by design” theses, she concentrates on mission-driven projects that offer tools to a larger public to help in understanding the value of the design industry and innovation and leadership challenges in economics.

Recent work concerns the KCDM center with Slovenian companies and research on topics like designers’ “soft skills” as strategic meta skills required in the digital age, design in supply chain, and UX design and agile transformation.

Hervé Collignon

Hervé is a consultant in Innovation Strategy, Business Transformation and Culture Change Management

He is a seasoned expert in Brand Strategy, Innovation  and  Design Thinking  approach, with over 30 years of experience with multinational corporations and in the creative industry in the US, the Middle East and in Europe. 

Hervé helps the public sector and private businesses embrace Strategic Design and Design Thinking as sustainable and innovation tools. He counts among his clients Etisalat, Bulgari Middle East, Edwards Lifesciences, Kelloggs, Tarkett International, Emirates Diplomatic Academy, RTA or Smartworld. He facilitates workshops to introduce a human-centered approach to innovation strategies, delivers keynote speeches to share his vision on innovation, and supports clients in delivering successful brand strategies.

Before moving to the UAE, Hervé was a lecturer at EM Lyon Business School, France (2013 -2014). In Dubai, he was a Design Strategy Adjunct Faculty Professor at Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation. He is now a Faculty at HULT University Dubai while serving as Business Catalyst for BA, MBA and e-MBA. He also provides innovation training to African business leaders.

His professional and educational background prior founding HOOKS Strategy & Innovation, started as a designer in creative agencies in the USA and France. He then worked for 20 years for several large international corporations:  EMEA Design Manager for IBM, European and then Global Design Manager for Procter & Gamble.

Hervé is graduated from Ecole Supérieure de Design Industriel, Paris, and obtained a Design-Thinking certificate from Stanford University d-School.

Steinar Valade-Amland

After holding export, product, and marketing management positions in the private sector— primarily in design-based manufacturing companies, he worked as account director and CEO of a leading brand design agency in Copenhagen from 1997 to 2000, and then as managing director of the Association of Danish Designers until 2012. Since then, he has acted as an independent consultant through his own set-up, THREE POINT ZERO, working for companies in industries as diverse as pharmaceuticals, lifestyle products, and tourism, as well as Danish and international NGOs and public sector organizations. Currently, he works mostly with the creative industries, including as head of strategy and business development in a design consultancy serving the global market. He is frequently consulted for his expertise in matters related to design and innovation processes and methodology, among others as evaluator of research and innovation initiatives, supported by the European Union. He has held numerous honorary positions and has frequently been invited to deliver keynote addresses and has served as guest lecturer and as panelist; in addition, he has contributed to several books, including Creative Sprint, published by the University of Brandenburg in 2014, presented 15 entries to the Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Design in 2015, and written numerous articles in trade magazines. He is the author of the peer-reviewed book INNOLITERACY – From Design Thinking to Tangible Change, published in Danish, in 2016, and in English by Business Expert Press, in 2018.
